Unless genetically engineered crops (GMOs) are restricted, then our choice to grow and eat non-GMO will be a moot point because contamination will have ended our ability to choose.

Recently a group of local farmers in Oregon’s Rogue Valley joined together to create the Our Family Farms Coalition (OFFC). Their first priority: pass the Family Farms Measure (15-119) on May 20, 2014 and keep genetically engineered crops out of Jackson County.

If approved by Josephine County voters, the ballot initiative would prohibit new plantings of GMO crops and give farmers with genetically modified crops already in the ground a 12 month period to phase out their plantings and transition to non-genetically engineered crops.
