While organic farmers try and figure out how to survive in the face of what appears to be an unstoppable government backed onslaught on their very right to exist, biotech firms along with their flunky farmers are doing the happy dance. Why? Because they are apparently immune from any type of liability if their GMO crops contaminate and ruin organic farms.
The initiative says that binding regulations must be implemented to prevent the release of genetically engineered plants that can persist and invade the environment or lead to transgene flow into native populations or local varieties at centres of origin and of genetic diversity.

In the long run, every healthy food crop is threatened. How can pure farming survive intact, when particles containing GMOs are in the wind?
Tell me again about how I should feel grateful that Monsanto tells us that it will not sue if the contamination levels of its GMO seeds in our crops are under 1% when the seed we purchase is contaminated with levels of 1-3%, with an average likely of at least 2%?
