Farm Wars

Despite a long-standing fight on the part of non-GMO Europe to be GE free, if a miracle doesn’t happen soon, 2 GE (genetically engineered) soys, which have “unintended changes” in their composition, causing “disturbances in plant metabolism in regard to content of fatty acids, amino acids, and vitamin E,” will be unleashed on the European Union, with no turning back of the tidal wave to follow. This is not the first camel’s nose under the tent. Genetically engineered maize with synthetic toxin was approved for usage in EU food and feed on June 17, 2011.

Unintended components in genetically engineered soy

By Christoph Then

Dupont/ Pioneer made the plants tolerant to herbicides (glyphosate and ALS-inhibitor) Monsanto inserted a gene for producing insecticides. Despite the actual findings, in July 2011, both applications received favourable opinions from the EFSA. This means that products derived from these plants might soon be imported for usage in food and feed if Member States or the EU Commission do not intervene.

European Food Authority EFSA in favour of market approval

Munich/Parma 11 August 2011. The European Food Safety Authority EFSA has recently published new favorable opinions on two genetically engineered soys. In their dossiers EFSA for the first time confirms unintended changes in the composition of the components of genetically engineered plants. The invasive methods used in genetic engineering cause disturbances in plant metabolism in regard to content of fatty acids, amino acids (Dupont/Pioneer, soy 356043) and vitamin E (Monsanto, soy MON87701).

Genetic manipulation was intended to alter the plants for other, completely different purposes: Dupont/ Pioneer made the plants tolerant to herbicides (glyphosate and ALS-inhibitor) Monsanto inserted a gene for producing insecticides. Despite the actual findings, in July 2011, both applications received favourable opinions from the EFSA. This means that products derived from these plants might soon be imported for usage in food and feed if Member States or the EU Commission do not intervene.

Testbiotech points out that these cases show general technical deficiencies in genetic engineering of plants and also expose failures in risk assessment carried out by EFSA: “These genetically engineered soy plants show that the process of genetic manipulation of plants is based on shotgun methods lacking sufficient technical control. The insertion of gene constructs into the plant genome is non-targeted, their activity is enforced by technical means. These plants inherit specific risks that cannot be compared with those of plants derived from conventional breeding“, says Christoph Then for Testbiotech in Munich. “But EFSA´s risk assessment is still based on the idea of substantial equivalence as a starting point.” EFSA assessed data from some field trials from industry in which the unintended changes in plant components became evident. But to investigate the risks of those plants more thoroughly, their genetic stability should be tested in a stress test under various defined environmental conditions. Investigations into plant components are highly relevant in the case of soy, because these plants naturally produce allergenic proteins and hormonally active substances. If the content of these components is changed, it can result in hazards for human and animal health. Instead of requiring further investigations, EFSA in its opinion even claims that “No indication was found …. that the genetic modification of soybean MON 87701 resulted in any unintended changes.” This statement is simply wrong and in contradiction to the actual findings.

There are further considerable risks for human and animal health caused by the quality of the inserted gene constructs: The insecticidal toxin Cry1Ac produced in the soy of Monsanto is known to be an immune stimulating protein. Despite the concerns of some experts from Member States which refer to significant findings in blood samples from humans, no further investigations were required by EFSA concerning risks for the immune system. Furthermore, the Dupont/Pioneer soybeans contain a new class of residues from glyphosate that are known to have a similar toxicity as the herbicide itself. Some recent investigations show that glyphosate and its formulations such as Roundup pose a higher risk to human and animal health than expected.

  1. GO VEG. BE GREEN. SAVE THE PLANET. EU must be free of genetically modified plants !

  2. ThomasT says:

I am not a Monsanto shill, sorry. Monsanto do not design GM foods for robust health! They do design foods/crops that are one-timers, and pesticide and drugs carriers.

We have been told, http://www.theyfly.com, (intelligent people have open minds)! that more advanced races, (this one 3,500 years ahead of us on tech., medicne etc.), have already GMed crops to be superfoods, NOT insecticide or drug carriers.

In Europe, Austria, where I live, the Govt. has REJECTED GM. All food in the super is clearly marked GM FREE, if it is.

However, having said that, the Austrians, (EU)? mislabel, ie pasteurised milk/milk products are labelled frisch, when in fact they are not.

Also, we can buy raw goat and sheep milk in Vienna city farm outlets without being hassled, (CA), and buy raw milk cheeses in most supers.

Denmark has already banned raw milk/raw milk products. Not all Europe is the same.

In Europe vitamins and herbs have been massacred! In the US this is just about to happen thanks to the corrupt FDA. (www.rense.com)

As I eat only for robust health, soy, canola is out, grains are minimal. I soak overnight, (ferment) brown and black rice 2X weekly, and a slice of sourdough, (fermented), ryebread for breakfast. that accompanies 3 raw egg yolks, homemade kefir from raw goat milk, dates, honeycomb, coconut oil, cacao, (sugar free) and a little superfruit, papaya, nagosteen etc.

Several books, including Seeds of Destruction and Corrupt to the Core, along with the film, The Idiot Cycle, lay out the framework for and evidence of a concerted effort to sicken and then treat humanity, while earning obscene profits.

The older generation in Australia, would remember the purity, richness & wholeness of the natural food supply from i.e. around 1880! Unlike today, there were very little processed foods in those days! Ah yes those were the days! If it wasn’t for greedy & evil individuals, Corporations (Monsanto) etc; this world would be a better place to be!

I’ve heard about 2 years back from a show ☞ Radio out there with Barry Eaton ➱ http://www.radiooutthere.com/blog/, when he interviewed someone, that the government (whoever made that decision), which was about 100 years or so, that they took out or removed B17 from wheat! Now why would they do that? It is well known that B17 is a preventative against cancer!

See these lunatics intentionally tamper & manipulate the food supply, they then make obscene profits treating humanity, from the things these criminals caused themselves!!

There’s good evidence of a concerted effort to sicken and then treat humanity, while earning obscene profits.

I was surprised to read the posts by ThomasT!! I was a big fan of Weston Price Foundation but am going to rethink that. ThomasT your “who cares” attitude and supercilious comments would leave anyone wondering about your education and intentions.

  6. Stinkfly says:

    ThomasT,

And your true colors come shining through. To quote you:

“In the future, when GMOs are designed to improve vitamin content, protein content etc and not lace them with insecticides, viricides(?) etc, we will enjoy better health from GMOs.”

YOU are a Monsanto shill, and deserve the Stinkfly Boot! Goodbye, ThomasT. Go peddle your GMOs elsewhere, as they are not welcome here and neither are you.

I am leaving your posts up as an example to my readers of a typical Monsanto PR propaganda ploy. Be aware! They get the camel’s nose under the tent when they suck you in by appearing to agree about those nasty GMOs, then go for the ‘But don’t you know that GMOs can really be good for you?’ kill step.

Same plot, different spot. And a bit boring. Hey, Monsanto! Get original, will ya?

  7. ThomasT says:

Barbara has a good point, however, canola is a toxic non-food, (Weston Price Foundation), so that one specifically doesnt matter. Corn has allergens that inflame specific body parts, that then allow easy entry for the cancer nucleus and cancer complex to start a malignancy, (Clark H R PhD ND.2007), wheat has many problems, phytates, lectins, leptins, high carbs, Mercola R Dr 2008-11.

Be that as it may, as long the corrupt, disinterested EU allows foods that are NON GMO to be labelled accordingly then we can all avoid the GMOs.

Those who consume toxic non-foods, such as soy, canola, wheat etc may one day learn that whether it is GMO or not, it is still toxic, and GMO or notmakes little difference.

In the end, if we all avoid GMOs, they being labelled, then the misinformed/pressured/threatened farmers growing these monstrosities will take the hit.

In the future, when GMOs are designed to improve vitamin content, protein content etc and not lace them with insecticides, viricides(?) etc, we will enjoy better health from GMOs.

  8. ThomasT,

You’re kidding, right? The EU is being invaded by GMOs, and all you can say is “what does all this matter?”

First they came for the corn, but I didn’t eat corn, so I said – what does all this matter? And did nothing. Then they came for the canola, but I didn’t eat canola, so I said – what does all this matter? And did nothing. Then they came for the soy, but I didn’t eat soy, so I said – what does all this matter? And did nothing. Then they came for the wheat, and I DO eat wheat, but by then it was too late to do anything because the entire food supply was either taken over or contaminated and there was nothing left to eat that wasn’t genetically engineered.

  9. ThomasT says:

When you consder that any well informed person consumes ZERO unfermented soy, what does all this matter?
