Part 1 HERE

By Dave Hodges

“Ah mercy, mercy me Ah things ain’t what they used to be.” (Marvin Gaye, Mercy Mercy Me, 1971)

In the aftermath of BP’s oil spill, the oil giant promised the financially damaged residents of the Gulf Coast, that BP would make the victims “whole.” BP has made extraordinary promises related to restitution in which they have repeatedly stated that they would not leave the Gulf “until the job is done” [1]. As we saw in the first part of this series, The Great Gulf Coast Holocaust [2], BP is excellent at compensating a miniscule number of victims and then BP parades these same people out in the eye of the public while pretending as if this microscopic number of fully compensated victims are the norm when it comes to BP restitution (3, 4, 5). Nothing could be further from the truth.

Restitution or Destitution?

For those who are not lucky enough to have won the BP propaganda lottery by having been selected to be the face of BP fairness while receiving financial restitution in exchange for assisting BP in their shameless self-promotion tactics, there are untold numbers of Gulf workers who have been underpaid or not paid at all, despite BP’s legal obligation to make the victims whole. Fisherman, Nga Da, is one of the unlucky ones and he has grown weary of BP and its stonewalling tactics with regard to paying him. Da states “For 20 years, “I earned $1,500 for 2 months from BP. Then I got $800 for a month afterwards. Then I received nothing for the past five months.” Broke and destitute, as a result of BP’s broken promises coupled with BP’s failure to live up to their legal obligations, Da borrowed money from his younger sister to pay rent. Meanwhile, the BP’s claims facility offered a lump sum $5,000 for not suing, “but I don’t know the future because there is no prospect for employment because most of the processing companies have closed [6].”

More Voices from the Gulf

Meet Kindra Arnesen (7), she is the Gulf Coast’s modern day version of Erin Brockovich. Kindra has risen from a position of obscurity to become her region’s most prolific and tireless advocate for the Gulf Coast victims and she tells a far different story than the tale that BP is trying spin. Arnesen states that “I am in touch with all the fisheries along the coast and I cannot find one who has been compensated (8)”. She further states, ”BP is lying through their teeth as I can personally name scores of people who have been bankrupted by BP and others who have not been paid a dime [8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14].” Arnesen adds that “My husband, David, a shrimp fisherman, made over $150,000 the year before the oil spill. His business has been destroyed by BP who offered him a one-time payment of $5,000 for the loss of his business. Kindra expressed fear about the consequences of speaking out against BP because David Arnesen is now working in BP’s clean-up efforts in order to make ends meet. Kindra notes that everyone is afraid to speak out against the injustices of BP because “BP is the King and they are running the Gulf [7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14].” Amazingly, what David Arnesen makes in the BP cleanup, like the other vessels of opportunity, has his earnings reduced by BP, in the amount that they have been paid by the compensation monies [9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14]. This illegal action by BP has relegated these victims into the dubious role of serving as an indentured servant to BP interests. This kind of BP tap dancing prompted Michigan Congressman, John Conyer, to state Many have been forced to accept the only available jobs — working for BP to clean up the contaminated waters and beachfront. Now, these Gulf residents have learned that their clean-up income will be deducted from any lost-wages settlements from BP. If that happens, they will have risked their health to help BP meet its legal obligations, without any net financial benefit for them or their families. Despite federal law requiring BP to pay both lost wages of workers and the clean-up costs, BP is essentially cleaning up the spill at the hands of free labor (15).” This is abuse of an already victimized population of the highest order.

BP has even gone so far as to employ circular logic in denying claims and they hope that nobody will notice. Brett Broussard, who worked as an offshore oil service boat pilot, is outraged that BP continues to lie to about the fact that BP is not denying claims. Broussard said BP told him he was ineligible because the moratorium against drilling for oil in the Gulf. “They’re parsing words. I am not eligible because of the moratorium, but their spill caused the moratorium,” Broussard said [16]. Plato and Socrates are rolling over in their graves.

Collateral Damage

The significant loss of revenue from jobs that have disappeared as a result of the oil spill, is not the only financial disaster faced by Gulf Coast residents. As many unpaid victims see their homes go into foreclosure, they are not only losing their most valuable investment, the dramatic increase in foreclosures as documented by a recent MIT study, found that foreclosure drops the price of a home by 27%, they are also affecting the neighboring houses by 3-7% [17]. Subsequently, Gulf Coast homes are in midst of at least a 30% plunge in value. Therein lays the principal reason why many residents do not feel they can relocate to other parts of the country in search of more permanent employment [18].

With Friends Like Feinberg, Who Needs Enemies?

Kenneth Feinberg, the point man in charge of BP’s $20 billion compensation fund, is commencing to wind down BP’s compensation operations in the Gulf Coast with only 20% of the total fund having been paid out [19]. Do you remember Part One’s memorable Feinberg exchange with Elmer Rogers, et al [20]? This should cause all who want justice to be carried out, to have extreme reservations about who is in charge of carrying out the compensation efforts. Ken Feinberg is the same man who denied 911 First Responder’s claims of impaired lung functioning leading to an inability to work (see Michael Moore’s portrayal in the movie Sicko). This is the same Ken Feinberg who “sentenced “ several homeless Katrina survivors to be forcibly evacuated by Blackwater and forced to live in Formaldehyde infested FEMA trailers resulting in severe lung impairments.

“I’ve used just over $4 billion,” said Mr. Feinberg, who also processed payments for families of victims of the 9/11 terror attacks and Hurricane Katrina. “I don’t envision a flood of new claims [19].” This begs the question for Mr. Feinberg, why then isn’t BP paying the existing claims?

Feinberg has stated “I’m not prepared to commit to or predict how much of that $20 billion will be used [19].” What about the BP-caused declining real estate values? What about the catastrophic pandemic of chemical agent induced illnesses which are beginning to emerge in horrific numbers in the Gulf? Why not do the right thing, Mr. Feinberg, and use the entire $20 billion dollar compensation fund? And when the money runs out, the Gulf Coast residents should go back to President Obama and press BP for even more money. It should be noted that Feinberg is paid by BP. Where is the government oversight and who is protecting the interest of the people? Does the phrase, “The Fox is watching the hen house” come to mind? Feinberg adds “But I continue to believe that BP’s financial commitment is sufficient to pay the claims.” With the BP paid Ken Feinberg at the helm of the compensation fund, his last statement is no doubt his most accurate in this whole compensation debacle.

Rules for Thee but Not for Me

Seems like everyone in the Gulf is losing money except for BP and its corporate Gulf Coast partners consisting of Goldman Sachs [21], former BP CEO Tony Hayward [22], TransOcean [23] and of course the infamous Halliburton [24] have all experienced major gains in corporate profits as a result of the spill in this unconscionable act of profiteering off of the misery of millions of people.

Perhaps BP’s mindset can best be captured from a comment made by BP’s Community Outreach Coordinator from Terrebonne Parrish, LA., in which the director, identified only as Aymee M., amazingly stated that “…….people don’t really want a claim….[25]”

Not only is BP getting away with not paying for their epic crime against humanity, many in the Gulf will tell you that they are also getting away with murder. One of Kindra Arnesen’s initial goals was to convince BP to give its workers masks because all of the clean-up workers are becoming ill, very seriously ill. The, fear no evil Kindra Arnesen, who I first met in November of 2010, is a changed woman. Kindra is still fearlessly fighting the good fight, but she is decidedly worn down and frightened for the future of her family. Her fears are justified because now it is now being discovered that many of the Gulf’s people are losing much more than their wealth, they are losing their collective health [7]. And if history is indeed a good teacher, it should be expected that many of the Gulf’s adult population will not live to see age fifty [26] and for many children living in the Gulf Coast region today, many will not likely live to see their own children reach high school provided they can even bear children. The slow burn genocide being perpetrated upon the people in the Gulf is the focus of Part three of The Great Gulf Coast Holocaust.

  1. Melanie Cady says:

    Dear Mr. Simon –

You have it exactly right, sir! I had worked in the Oil & Gas industry growing up in the Texas Panhandle & knew full well what crude can do to people, cattle, etc… Not to mention the nasty gases that come up with the oil…

I was living near Mobile, Alabama when this happened. I was stunned. People are heavily fluoridated there thru the water supply, which may explain why “Southerners did not riot in the streets” to get the Gulf cleaned up.

Others, like myself, were busy coughing their guts up, trying to treat horrific blood-filled skin blisters in every skin crease on their bodies, made worse by perspiration… (it does occasionally get HOT down in the South). Basic equation = sick people, worried about survival, do not riot.

I was on the alert immediately & when I saw BK Lim’s interpretation of the survey info from MMS, I KNEW we had been hoodwinked, etc.

On August 8, 2011, I was in my own pasture with my goats more than 23 miles inland, when a grey-painted Coast Guard plane came over & dumped a load on us… We ran for the shed, but it was too late. My clothes, as well as the goats’ coats, were soaked. I assumed it was Corexit (which is not to be sprayed on LAND), so ran for the shower, then went back out & washed down all of my goats, against their will… Three days later, one of my pregnant does miscarried on August 11th.

Now, I am already disabled with fibromyalgia & on Social Security after working my body into collapse in my own business… I had recently returned to the US from Asia, where I had been looking for a new home, as I could read the writing on the wall in the US…

We began developing a horrible flu-like illness, probably due to the lab-engineered microbials intended to “eat the oil,” as well as the nasty mix of heavy metals (thallium, aluminum, barium, vanadium, and arsenic) which were included in the spray to “help break down the oil.” Well, they certainly DO – eating the lipid fats binding human cell structure together.

I suffered bleeding gums, bleeding eyes, ears, fingernail cuticles, as well as rectal & vaginal bleeding lasting over 8 months. At any exertion, I broke out in more blood-filled blisters which would break down into ulcerations… Add to this the extreme foot pain caused by heavy metals. We developed a nasty BP-cough, which left us vomiting with its intensity, heads throbbing, unable to rest or sleep at night, coughing up black or bloody chunks during the days.

Fortunately, as one who DOES think, immediately after the spill I began researching possible exit scenarios for myself & family…

I write this from Uruguay, after having moved here to live… We were here 3 days when we looked up & noticed the horrible coughing was gone… Yes, we have more healing to do, but the move has made ALL the difference. After 5 months of being here, eating pure, unprocessed foods, breathing clean air & drinking unfluoridated water, we are beginning to feel human again. Our energy level has increased to the degree I would not have thought possible before we left the US.

If you think I’m one of those with “enough money” to afford to relocate – think again. My husband quit his $70k/year job with a shipyard, retiring at age 49, to make this move. That meant huge sacrifice as far as 401(k) programs go… We saw that writing on the wall as well. Better to grab a little & get out with it, intact, than hang on & be poisoned to death. We took the hit & escaped with a little over $13k, total.

We sold our livestock in December 2011, taking $1k for all the animals – purebred Nubian goats, pigs, chickens, etc., throwing in their housing, equipment, etc. In any other market, the goats would have been worth about $400 each…

I held a 2-month long “yard sale” in which we liquidated cars, boats, BBQ & lawn & garden furniture. Finally, we sold all household furniture, kitchen equip., beds, TVs, etc… We gave away what we could not sell. (I figured it was just a deposit to our “Karma bank.”)

Because I had bought silver bullion at $12, I was lucky enough to be able to sell at $40. That bought our tickets. After a 2-week wait in a ValuePlace apartment, we and our 7 suitcases, containing all our worldly trash, made the flight… With us dragging our asses to Pensacola, Miami, then Lima, Peru, then Montevideo… Two days to rest at a hotel there (and let our bags catch up from Lima), and we were on the bus for our present location – a precious piece of heaven near the sea, in a tiny fishing village of 1,000 year-round inhabitants.

Yes, I still watch what’s happening in the US. I have friends & family there I wish would come down… Some CANNOT, because they have elderly family members who need their care, or because they have husbands with terminal cancer who need their care. These people have put others before themselves, as the people they care for cannot be moved. It is callous to say that Gulf people are too stupid to understand what’s happening to them. The attitude is, with the incredible monolith of the US govt, its’ paid-for president, and the corporatocracy in charge – WHO DO YOU FIGHT? Answer? You fight to hang on & live just another day until the time comes when you CAN get out…

I am down here to build a place for these people to come to.

So, all of you who think you “can’t afford” to move, think again! If we can live on less than $600/mo here, can buy land & build a house on it for less than $12k, you can too. Just SELL THE CRAP. Get rid of the motorized Christmas reindeer with the lights – stuff you’ll never use.

It takes about 5 months being out of the toxic zone before you notice the improvement in health.

NOT A SHEEP, am I. Still, we had a very close call…

  2. Richard W. Firth says:

They should change their name from “British Petroleum” to “Bad People”. That is what I now call them.

  3. Erich Simon says:

Here’s the thing. I write financial analysis anticipating negative financial impact events for financial protection and profit (a daily list anymore of which this Gulf ordeal was one of the most obvious ones to come along… so incriminating and over-the-top as to be life-changing for all of us, whether we know it yet or not, an inflection point on our mutual paths over the years ahead… in 2001 I took a registered investment group (EIN) all-in on the short side five days in advance of 9-11 because I told the group that DC was going to get hit by a domestic terror strike, and we all made money on that one, although that was no way to bang a paycheck).

It took me eight years to realize that the 9-11 event was telegraphed to me (DUE IN FULL PART BECAUSE OF THE BLATANT GULF LIES espoused by our very own government, those in charge of our safety… SOME CONTINGENT OF WHICH MURDERED 3,000 OF US). So I am convinced that we are all now on a very distinct path (crafted by them), and many are going to die, while most will be financially ruined. So I’m admittedly a bit skewed….

For explanation here is my writing published by a former Pacific Stock Exchange trader, RA, in the opening days of the Gulf Oil Tragedy along with my rebuttal comments (HIGHLIGHTED IN CAPITALS) to address (somewhat I hope) the questions and concerns that some of you think I am evading; they boil down mostly to gullibility and failure to act, confrontational or otherwise, especially in doing due diligence:

[The exceedingly gloomy analysis of the Gulf oil-gusher that ran here yesterday elicited many interesting comments. Generally speaking, and much to our surprise, readers did not reject the author’s doomsday thesis out-of-hand. We are airing Erich Simon’s article for a second day in the hope that it will generate further, enlightening discussion. The environmental health of the planet may hang in the balance, as many seem to understand. As of this moment, however, no one can say for certain that the “fix,” a relief well due to be completed by August, will save the day for Mother Earth. RA ]

“With U.S. military Insiders (BP shills in tow) now close enough to peer over the Continental Shelf, down the sloping, innocuous, white sandy overlay into millions of years of sediment covering who-knows-what, they are still unable to see further into the miles of drill casings inside the ‘relief’ bores – unable to look into the fiery bowels of a sleeping enemy whose size and power once unleashed can turn humans into frozen statues. Meanwhile, the latest qualitative, operational drivel continues to escape both sides of BP’s mouth.

Here they are, the Masters of Deep-Earth Exhuming, standing mere feet across a line from their target, and nothing is slated until August under the auspices of a “delicate” operation. Is drilling into the side of a hundred million atomic bombs…delicate? After all, the reddish-black oil confluent pumping like smoke out of the sea floor bears a striking resemblance to Black Smokers, which are vents from volcanoes lurking beneath the ocean bottom, the deepest on record just adjacent to the Deepwater Horizon Disaster, in the Caribbean. Meanwhile, while the military/BP contingent sits around scratching its behind in frozen inaction and awe of forces beyond their comprehension, weather conditions are only going to get worse, much worse, with hurricane season already moving in, and with the Deepwater Horizon Chernobyl continuing to gush toxic oil and gas from more and more fractures and at ever-increasing rates. Why are they waiting until August? How about September, or October. Or never?”

(OK, HERE I AM PAINTING A VERY OBVIOUS PORTRAIT OF THE UNFOLDING CRISIS. IT IS AT THIS POINT THAT I WOULD HAVE PUT MY HOUSE UP FOR SALE, UP-ENDED MY FAMILY AND ABANDONED THE REGION. I AM SORRY, BUT READING BETWEEN THE LINES OF SUCH CORPORATE PROPAGANDA… LIES, DECEIT, CALCULATED AMBIGUITY, DISCLAIMER… ALL THE REST… FOLKS NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT THEY… AND THEY ALONE… MUST TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR OWN SAFETY, ESPECIALLY AFTER WATCHING THEIR MONEY GO TO MONEY HEAVEN IN THE DOT.COM CRASH OF MARCH 2000, WHICH WAS ALL BASED ON THE PUMP AND DUMP, AND OUTRIGHT FRAUD, PERPETRATED RIGHT BENEATH THE WATCHFUL EYES OF YOUR SEC!

AND THE FUTURE TURNED OUT TO BE EVERY BIT AS DISASTEROUS FOR THOSE THAT REMAINED IN THE GULF AS WE ALL COULD SEE THAT IT WOULD… SAME AS IN FUKUSHIMA, WHERE I MIGHT ADD THAT I ATTENDED A SEMESTER OF GRAD SCHOOL AND AM JUST AS ANGRY, BUT FAR LESS INCREDULOUS BECAUSE THOSE ARE A VERY TOLERANT AND HARMONIOUS BUNCH, ALTHOUGH FINALLY WAKING UP TO THE DEATH VISITED UPON THEIR CHILDREN BY OUTSIDE HANDS).

“Because nothing is known about the Gulf volcano buried under the serene, sandy quartz accumulations, the former peaks of the Appalachian mountains eroded and deposited atop the Deepwater Horizon energy cauldron over-filled and boiled over from their origins when the continents broke apart, long before our oldest maps and subterranean modeling.

And as to our recent understanding about what might be “down ‘there,” promulgated by the Deepwater Disaster itself, no critical information has been forthcoming. Even the most important of all questions has been masqueraded and shoved from view, replaced by mundane distractions like financial recompense and saving the turtles and beaches. Nothing has been released about the test results on the enemy, the invading oil (its antiquity, or composition), or types of chemicals or gases streaming out from the inter-continental floor, that would give some measure of the threat and character of the enemy… now that the Planet has crossed the socio-demographic Threshold Event to the coming end of civilization as we understand it… and in like manner, neither are the circumstances being revealed of the enemy’s escape, how much longer before this thing doesn’t only ‘trickle’ forth but bursts.”

(HERE AGAIN, I PUT THIS IN STARK TERMS. WOULD YOU GAMBLE YOUR FAMILY’S LIFE ON THE UNPREDICTABILITY OF A GEOLOGIC CLOCK WOUND BACK MILLENIUM? I WOULDN’T. AND I SURE WOULDN’T TAKE BP’S WORD FOR IT, WITH THEIR PRIVATE HELICOPTERS AND LEAR JETS AT THE BECK AND CALL)

    ‘Top Kill’ Fiasco

“All this suggests that like the ‘top kill’ fiasco… where the BP/military mockery failed so miserably to contain the Beast below that was so powerful that it exploded their best touted efforts right back right into their ‘two-timing’ faces and worse still, evidence suggests that all measure at containing the pressure at the ‘top kill’… the sea floor… caused the pressure to blow out of other places… out the sides of the (shredded) steel casings and liners… at points all along the 3 1/2 mile bore into whatever hell is now unseated. Speculation has it that the military actually opened the leak wider at the surface because the oil was popping outta so many cracks in the sea bed that to do otherwise would have invited the dreaded ‘geologic event’!

The public should prepare itself for similar failure come August, if indeed the military has any intention of attempting to drill the final feet of a ”relief” well into an enemy that has proved itself beyond the harness of modern technology. The military is the military. The military lies.

No official has ever discussed any details about what is going on at (or beneath the sea floor) except for the (preposterous) mention to cement the surrounding, cracking sea bed early on (indicating an obvious breach of sea bed integrity across the deep terrain from the initial Mega-explosion). Since then any reference to the sea floor is off-limits… same as with the test results documenting whatever potpourri is gushing outta the sea bed at greater and greater rates… keeping the public in the dark about the speed at which the monster underneath is moving upward… breaking its chains of history.”

(NO TEST RESULTS… (SAME AS FUKUSHIMA) WHILE THE MILITARY, CHARGED WITH OUR PROTECTION, IS SLATING OUR DEMISE. AND GULF RESIDENTS COULDN’T PUT ANY OF THAT TOGETHER?! LIE AFTER LIE, FIRST IT WAS RED ALGAE THAT LITTERED THE SURROUNDING SHORELINES. IT WAS OIL! SO OBVIOUS TO US YANKEES, NEVERMIND THE FOLKS WHO INHABIT THOSE BEACHES, ESPECIALLY IN BILOXI WHERE BEACH-GOERS HAVE THE WHOLE FAMILY LYING FACE DOWN ON THEIR BLANKETS WITH BLACK, OIL-STAINED FEET BOTTOMS. THESE FOLKS TOOK NO INITIATIVE, THEY WERE MORE INTERESTED IN JERRY SPRINGER THAN IN THE TESTIMONIALS OF (ADMITTEDLY) HAND-PICKED INSIDERS IN FRONT OF CONGRESSIONAL STAGE-SET COMMITTEES, IT WAS ALL TOO MUCH. THE MOST COGNIZANT LINE FROM THE WHOLE CIRCUS REGARDING ENVIRONMENTAL FALLOUT: ‘WHAT HAPPENS TO THE DOLPHINS WILL HAPPEN TO US…”

LET ME TELL YOU. THE DOLPHINS ARE WASHING UP DEAD, EVERYWHERE, BY THE THOUSANDS… 486 AT LAST COUNT ON ONE BEACH. AND IN LESS THAN ONE YEAR, THAT’S HOW TOXIC THE SOUP IS THAT BP HAS BREWED THE GULF OF MEXICO! IN FIVE YEARS THE GULF WILL BE A RUIN OF BOARDED-UP SHAMBLES, A THIRD OF EVERYONE DEAD OR DYING OF CANCER, JUST LIKE OVER IN RUSSIA FROM ALL THE INSANITY THEY LEVELED ON THEIR N-B-C TEST SUBJECT PEOPLES. BUT DID THE GULF RESIDENTS TRADE BLOWS WITH BP (LIKE I EXPECTED AND WROTE ABOUT TO MY SUBSCRIBERS… WITH RIOTING THAT I WAS READY TO PACK THE CAR TO DRIVE DOWN TO JOIN AND PUSH THE EVIL BASTARDS BACK TO WHATEVER HOLE THEY CRAWLED OUT OF!, WITH THE (LOUISIANA) NATIONAL GUARD SIDING WITH ‘WE THE PEOPLE’, I ENVISIONED, AND HELPING TO THROW BP OUT ON ITS ASS… BAYOU PEOPLE, CAJUNS, AREN’T FOR SALE!, BLOOD FOR BLOOD, EYE FOR EYE… BUT NO!, ‘WE THE PEOPLE’ JUST COMPLAINED, TOOK A TICKET AND GOT IN LINE EVEN, AND SAT DOWN WHEN THE STANDING GOT TOO MUCH ON THE PAIR-SHAPED BODIES! AND NOW THEY CONTINUE TO COMPLAIN, WHILE LUNG DISEASE EATS THEIR INSIDES AND THIER FAMILIES GROW GAUNT. AT LEAST WE WON’T HAVE TO LISTEN TO THEIR INEPTITUDE.)

    Numerous Geysers

“According to BP CEO, Tony Hayward, “you can’t see down inside the broken well bore…”, giving him carte blanche to stonewall the subject of what’s going on below the sea bed. And this anachronism in an era where technology can discern just about anything, certainly geologic substrata? The initial sea bed pictures showed four or five Geysers comparable to the size of the initial well bore explosion but those have been removed from public domain. Further evidence of the cracking sea floor (described by all geologic reference as “weak bedrock”) is closed for discussion, even in the highest court of We The People, those nightly replays on the CSPAN television broadcasts… those theatrical, public pandering, Congressional, Deepwater Horizon investigation inquiries and testimonials.

Why isn’t the military intersecting the broken well a (generous) distance below the sea floor (like a half mile, or a mile, or even two miles… far atop the Monster Reservoir instead of at its doorstep?) and injecting mud and cement the rest of the way down to bring expeditious and quick end to this freak of nature? More than enough distance below the failed ‘top kill’ if the military were being truthful when they claimed how they could “kill the spill” at the level of the sea floor? It certainly should be no problem then to intercept and halt the flow of gas and oil a half of a mile lower… unless ‘top kill’ was never a viable alternative, but only a public appeasement cover story, and unless the pressure is so freakish that there is no stopping it at a half mile down, or one and a half miles down… or all of the way down….”

    Why Drill to 18,000 Feet?

“Stopping the oil gusher (not “spill”, not “leak”)… GUSHER… at the sea floor with a ‘top kill’ was never the military intention, in fact quite the opposite… they made the hole bigger, venting out even more oil… (the Gulf is turning BLACK) because if they would have capped the GUSHER at the sea floor, assuming they had something large enough to do the job… a blowout preventer about the size of the New Orleans Superdome… then the 3 1/2 miles of well casing and liner all the way down below would have simply blown apart… more than from the initial blast, forcing underground off-shoot currents of oil that would have shot out in all directions up through weak bedrock and pushing their individual ways through the sea floor where they would have fountained black geysers all across for miles around, tearing the terrain to pieces and turning the Gulf black right in front of a horrified public. And judging by the four or five other geysers already at play (who knows how many now?) from the initial mishap… there are reports of another oil “leak”, seven miles from the source.

This is why the US military is going to go all the way down the entire 18,000+ feet (3 1/2 miles below the ocean floor)… ALL THE WAY TO THE DOORSTEP OF THE RESERVOIR ITSELF. And for such a suicidal option to even be attempted can only mean one thing.

They are going to attempt to drill into the point of maximum pressure, close by where the August 20 explosion blew up in the first place. They are (or so they claim) going to attempt to drill into a 7-9 inch “plate sized” well casing (actually, the company ran out of steel casing they used “liner” down there…) that is funneling an unfathomable, unquantified, pressurized “anomaly” (this is the word used to describe the Gulf Monster by BP CEO, Tony Hayward, in fact… his only word to describe exactly what it is that went bang)… this “anomaly” is a gaseous, pressurized, focal point perimeter to Pandora’s Box.”

Niagara Falls Through a 9” Pipe

“Why? Isn’t it entirely likely… probable in fact… that at that particular puncture point into the reservoir balloon that the rock environment supporting the liner… channeling something akin to the likes of Niagara Falls through a 9 inch pipe… that that liner is already exploded (remember, according to BP CEO, Tony Hayward, nobody knows what is down there because nobody can even see down past the obliterated well head…) and so supercharged with volatility (geothermal flux) that nothing is capable of injection… no mud, no cement, no slurry, no nothing… but quite the opposite, isn’t that only opening a new avenue for ejection? Another explosion?

There simply is no reliable casing with which to make contact. At best there is a collapse of rock from the first explosion of unknown size and proportion rotating pressures that are so extreme it is flaring gases miles above in ways that the industry has never before witnessed. No drilling effort has any chance of success in succumbing this unknown situation. Not a modicum.

Never mind that 99% of myopic America… hapless, grazing Sheeple already raped and pillaged by their very own Wall Street/US Government cabal… continue to go about their daily routines under the guise that these wells (“relief” or otherwise) are slated for production (with hat tip by the establishment and occasional horn blow to prod them outta the way) when in fact these wells are NEVER going to be deployed into production… they are going to (try and) be capped, sealed and buried as far from public view as possible… BP’s so-called “ANOMALY”… it begs the question, WHY?… and the even bigger question, WHAT HAPPENS IF THE RELIEF WELL FAILS… MORE PROBABLE THAN NOT given how little is known about the entire panorama, not the least of which is the short work that this “anomaly” made of the “ultimate industry fail safe”, the Blowout Preventer (BOP), which was not the victim of shoddy manufacture per the ongoing propaganda play act, but rather the victim of an encounter with such extreme force that nothing manmade could ever have withstood such an event! Never.”

    Three Types of BOPs

“There are three different kinds of blowout preventers: pipe rams, blind rams and shear rams. The Deepwater Horizon was outfitted with all three. It was the strongest, most redundant blowout preventer every manufactured. It was deepwater incarnate. That is why there was no back-up, they didn’t need it. And it would not have mattered in the least.

The pressure of first contact into the reservoir was so incredibly extreme… one tiny drill bit that blew open a shock wave that cannoned through 3 1/2 miles of rock and another mile of water… blowing to bits every thing along the way, which is why there is nothing to drill into for relief or anything else… pulverizing the liner, casing and every one of the “ultimate industry fail safes”… until it reached the ocean surface, where it blew to bits the largest oil rig ever brought to bear, and after sending it skyward in an explosion of such magnitude that it was visible from outer space sent it straight to the bottom of the ocean… so how does a repeat performance by drilling a second pinhole through the skin of the “anomaly”, but from a different angle, going to accomplish anything other than catastrophe?

Why? For turtles, pelicans, oysters and beaches. Hardly. That’s a distraction to what’s really at stake… the unfolding ‘geologic event’.”

    Hayward’s Admission

“This fact comes directly from the mouth of BP CEO, Tony Hayward, in his recent testimony in front of the latest Congressional, all-show-and-no-go inquiry just last week when he iterated about how there are forces (out in Nature) that are far and above the capabilities of the oil industry’s ultimate fail safes and that this incident compels an end to all oil drilling pending redesign at the industry level of the Blowout Preventer on an order of complete overhaul. This is serious stuff indeed!

And no doubt the groundwork for BP’s defense… not to mention their coy and detached demeanor… and lackadaisical approach to clean-up efforts in the Gulf that by all quiet agreement will remain a toxic cesspool until the end of time… because this circumstance falls into the category of Providence and Act Of God… how big an act remains a military secret, until such time as it isn’t and right now there is not much intention to ending something that can never be ended… only contained and managed to buy time.

The deepwater drilling moratorium and cordoning by military blockade is to prevent any further discovery of the deteriorating sea bed situation and the incipient ‘Geologic Event’. Similarly, the failure to move troops or National Guard into the Gulf area for ‘clean-up’ is not just because the Gulf is a lost cause… but because of the pressure cooker of public rage that is going to confront any ‘invasion’ by men in uniform carrying guns as final clarification of keeping them in their places.”

    Blown to Shreds

“With the military drilling the relief wells to the bottom of the drill bore… to the very end… the actual source, the entire steel well casing and liner further down being obliterated, blown-to-shreds from the force of trapped gas… the entire well is most likely blown all to hell all the way up and down its entire length by a reservoir that is continuing to pump ever greater amounts of gaseous black and red. Tony Hayward mumbled under his breath in his latest testimony about how the reservoir itself was “small… only 50 million barrels” (to which one Senator, after some quick math, suggested taking no further action, because at the present rate of rupture come August most of the oil would be leaked out anyhow).

Here again, while Tony Hayward knows nothing of what’s under the sea floor by his own admission he sure knee-jerked a 50 million barrel appraisal with no hesitation. In fact, the amount of oil (in pockets measured in 2-2.5 BILLIONS of barrels…) under the Gulf of Mexico is on the order of 50 BILLION barrels.”

    In Six Months…

“There are between 5,000-10,000 oil drilling rigs (3,600 is the official number) clustered in the Gulf that have been pumping everyday for decades. And all of them (except for 33 ‘deepwater’ rigs under Obama six month moratorium… NOT FOR SAFETY SAKE but to keep at bay any errant, ‘crime scene’ videoing, deepwater, ROV cameras… in six months either IT will all be over or else the moratorium will be extended), the vast majority of rigs are in 500 feet of water or less, that is, a mile above the Deepwater Horizon well, which itself is drilled down another 3 1/2 miles. The gravitational press from that kinda reservoir overhang (and underhang) is pressure and volume that makes a mockery of Tony Hayward’s (mumbled) 50 million barrels, and an insult to the only report he claimed to have received of the whole episode, according to his testimony, that they had made “a discovery”.

Tony Hayward told Congressional investigative eunuchs that all that was reported to him about the Deepwater Horizon well disaster on the day it happened is that they had made a “discovery”. Was is simply a mundane oil discovery? Was it a large oil mother load? Was a pressurized Hiroshima? If he knew the details of “the discovery” then he stonewalled. Did he know? Of course he knew! Then there are no good reasons why he would stonewall on this point.

Today gas and oil and all manner of undocumented subterranean effluent is exploding up through ever-increasing numbers of well-sized holes (beyond the four or five in the opening days) replete with cracking fissures stretching in all directions fueling torrents of clouds of ghastly carbonation… and the sea bed is so compromised that whatever is remaining of the operational structure of the mine… on the sea bottom… the BOP and the riser… are leaning over as much as 15 degrees. The BOP weighs some 40-45 tons while the riser package weights more than 450 tons!”

    Unprecedented Flow Rates

“Any time now the BOP and riser could fall over. Any day now the BOP and riser might simply disappear into the ocean bottom, into a sink hole sand blasted and pressure washed open by such incredible flow rates that the rates have never before been documented in any United States well with the exception possibly of Prudhoe Bay but even that is today a guess since no one knows how much is exploding out in the Gulf, except that it is greater amounts everyday… so much that from the beginning there was no known technology to harness this kinda of pressure and turn it into a functional well.

So that what they are now going to attempt (in August… which sounds conspicuously like a line in the sand, based on extrapolation of the present rate of sea bed erosion across weak bedrock breaking apart across wide swaths, overlaid with millennial sediment)… the US military/BP contingent are actually going to toy Mother Nature a second time and drill straight into the pressurized cavern underlying the Gulf-Mississippi delta, containing a reservoir of gas (and oil) estimated by some scientists to be the size of Mt. Everest!”

    Billions of Barrels

“And inviting eruption on an unprecedented scale… BILLIONS… BILLIONS of barrels of oil through new piercings… and further out-rendering of all manner of gases… especially methane…, ocean altering chemicals and every other manner of pressurized contaminants accumulated over hundreds of millions of years… destroying not just the Gulf (at least one-third dead already in seventy short days!) but the ocean currents will change their temperatures so critical in effecting climate, and the planet’s atmosphere… a significant outgas of methane or unleashing of carbon dioxide would push the limits of global warming or even usher the next ice age.

Why are the BP shills claiming that they are taking time to “home” in with the first relief well using delicate magnetic ‘feelers’ when the second relief well is nowhere in position? So which is it… buying time to hit the 9 inch plate-sized target, or buying time to get a second relief well in place… or stalling for time to push the whole insanity further out into the future… they can’t even get their stories straight.

The US military (and BP puppet contingent) has no idea of what they are doing. They didn’t from the start and they don’t know now. August and relief wells? This latest feigned remedy is stretching the disaster out for as long as is humanly possible given the level of public frustration boiling over behind media obfuscation and the pace at which the oil is overtaking the environment and impending ‘geologic event’. Meanwhile local residents directly affected are coming together and protesting more and more with every passing day. The indigenous population is dying, their lifestyles, their livelihood, their food source, their health, their communities, their whole worlds are being overtaken by poison. No amount of money can ever assuage this. Not a pittance.”

    Stock Market Blues

“This is evident in the stock market of late. The week leading into holidays is subject to an increase in the indices, the most famous being ‘the Santa Clause Rally’. There was no Independence Day rally this year, in fact the markets sold off sharply. Also, at quarter end… particularly the June and December bi-annual closing quarters… mutual funds go in and buy stocks and lift the markets to make their numbers look good when reporting to investors. It is called “end-of-quarter window dressing.” There was no such thing at the end of this June, quite the opposite.

Government insiders know that come August there is no possible chance that BP or anyone else is going to plug the Gulf monster… the South Eastern economic quadrant of the United States (of Corruption) is destroyed forever and those southerners are condemned to live, breathe and drink smelly, toxic, carcinogenic oil and deadly invisible Corexit, the likes of which their own government is keeping secret (the government did the same thing when the radioactive cloud from Chernobyl descended on the school children playing out on their swing-sets in the city of Kiev… the government camera men wore radiological hazmat suits, the levels of radiation melting the film inside their cameras… while the children swung obliviously in the background, it is no different in the Gulf).”

    Riots Coming

“The only thing that is going to come in August will be a eulogy to the Gulf of Mexico, rioting on a scale that will invite the National Guard (printing money absent the Means of Production in fish, oysters, shrimp, finfish, breathable air, potable land and water… will accomplish nothing to remedy this!). The Gulf residents can not afford relocation and besides, no other (saturated and bankrupted) US community has the resources to absorb even ten percent of these unfortunates, with panic migrating up the Eastern Seaboard as the oil and Corexit pushes up into Myrtle beach, where elevated, dissolved benzene levels suggests it already has… with the tar balls not far behind…, and after that, the Atlantic Ocean will begin its death of a thousand cuts as the oil moves up the Gulf stream, joining the floating garbage off New York and contaminating much of the world’s seafood.

Evidence of the coming failure of the Gulf relief wells is in the last sentence from the latest USA BP propaganda article: “The weight of 18,000 feet of the ‘drilling mud,’ as it’s called, sitting on top of the well should, it is hoped, be enough to stop the oil from coming out of its reservoir.” This assumes that there is 18k feet of “mud” already pillared inside the well casing (and that the casing has sufficient integrity to house and hold the mud in any meaningful proportion, which according to BP CEO, Tony Baloney, they can’t even look down inside there to see what’s left of the bore, so logic would dictate that after the worst explosion in the history of oil drilling the liner is vaporized).”

    The ‘Anomaly’

“Before BP can even make such a claim about an 18k foot column of containment mud, it has to achieve an 18k foot column of containment mud. Their drills have to withstand and absorb the initial explosion of drilling into the “anomaly”… they couldn’t do it the first time and nothing has changed… so why do they think they can do it a second time…, and then keep it all at bay while they (furiously) pump that mud up the length of the conduit, carried along by the force of rising gas that will most likely vaporize the slurry as fast as they are pumping it in. In fact, there are no technological ‘pumps’ capable of withstanding this kind of eruption… they can’t pump… they gotta BLAST the mud up into the pipe… and it’s just gonna get lost in all the cavities along the shredded steel casing left over from the initial blast, not to mention how they plan to contain it all when it comes blasting up outta the sea floor with a BOP and riser package that are leaning twice as much as the Tower of Pisa!

To these obstacles the company is saying absolutely nothing. Everything that they have been stating is in ‘end-result’ terms. It should be obvious even to the unscrupulous BP engineers… and their half-witted US military counterparts who are impotent to the whole solution or else they would have stepped in from the very first day and taken control… that as soon as they puncture the source of what exploded all the way up five miles… then the whole attempt is going to blow up right in their faces.”

    Sounds Like a Ploy

“Which is why this whole thing sounds like a ploy… to stall the public before they panic at not just the end of their way-of-lives but their health and ultimately their families. And by drilling down so far, into the monster itself… rather than intersecting the bore from much higher up the casing, where one would think that the ’situation’ is at least quantifiable, this makes little sense unless, in fact, they fully comprehend the high risk gamble involved in what they are about to do come August, and want to ‘manage’ it at the furthest point beneath the earth as possible… to escape the rumble earthquake of failure (unlike the eleven souls who did not), in which case then this entire attempt sounds like one last-ditch effort against a foe that is capable of destroying much more than the Gulf of Mexico… and if the sea floor gives way then a geologic event could in a matter of days empty a reservoir that by some scientific measurement is the size of Mt. Everest!

A piece the size of Rhode Island could belch up from the fragmenting sea floor and the Gulf States would be storm-surged and buried under thirty feet of oil….

We seem to be in a fight to save the planet’s oceans against an eruption that is only becoming more unstable by the day and will continue to do so until the time when it is either stopped (August?) or achieves equilibrium… an outgas emptying of the pressure of the underground Mega-reservoir and along with whatever is pent inside.”

(MY CONCLUSION ON THIS IS SEVERAL FOLD. THE SOUTH BLEW IT WHEN THEY DIDN’T RIOT TO EFFECT CHANGE, MEANINGFUL CHANGE, AS I HOPED. FOR ALL WE KNOW, THEY NEVER STOPPED THE OIL GUSHER, ONLY MASKED IT BY USING COREXIT TO CHANGE THE COMPOSITION, THE VISCOSITY, OF THE ENTIRE GULF OF MEXICO. OR… OR… SOMETHING ELSE ENTIRELY DIFFERENT THAN AN OIL RIG EXPLOSION, UNDER SUCH PRETENSE, TOOK PLACE. LIKE A HOLLYWOOD STAGE SET, AN OTHER WORDLY HAPPENING.

MAYBE THE WELL HEAD WAS ACTUALLY TORPEDOED BY SOME (NORTH KOREAN) GROUP AS HAS BEEN ADVANCED, WHO MIGHT ACTUALLY BE FRIEND OR FOE OF ‘WE THE PEOPLE’ (SINCE OUR GOVERNMENT IS NOT OUR OWN). THE POINT IS ‘WE THE PEOPLE’ CAN NOT TRUST OUR OWN GOVERNMENT AT ALL, NOT EVER. ONE GETS THE FEELING THAT THEY WILL KILL OR IMPRISON YOU AT THE SLIGHTEST EXCUSE ANYMORE. AND THAT BRINGS TO MIND FUKUSHIMA, A DOMINO THAT CAN EASILY BEGIN A CHAIN OF EVENTS THAT PUTS AN END TO CIVILIZATION AS WE KNOW IT.

BASED ON DETERIORATION OF INFRASTRUCTURE AND IMMINENT BREAKDOWN OF JUST-IN-TIME SUPPLY LINES FOR JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING WE AS A GLOBAL ECONOMY DEPEND ON FOR DAY TO DAY LIFE, THERE IS NOT ENOUGH TO GO AROUND FOR 19 OUT OF EVERY 20 PEOPLE IF DISTRIBUTION CHANNELS GO SOUTH. THIS DOES NOT BODE WELL.

I HOPE I SHED SOME LIGHT ON THE MISGIVINGS OF THE GULF RESIDENTS AND THEIR FAILURE (AS YET) TO STAND AGAINST A GLOBAL MASTER THAT WILL ONLY ENCOURAGE A MUCH GREATER ‘PLIGHT’, ONE THAT WILL BE VISITING US ALL SHORTLY. STAY UNITED, STAY ON COURSE, AND THIS TIME, YOU’RE GONNA HAVE TO PROVIDE SOME MEASURE OF RESISTANCE, YOU SIMPLY CAN NOT HIDE AND WAIT THIS NEXT ONE OUT… THAT WOULD BE A FATAL MISTAKE ON EVERYONES PART, SINCE THE MEN LIKE THOSE FROM BP WILL PICK US OFF ONE BY ONE IF WE TAKE THAT SELFISH, SHORT-LIVED ROUTE.)

Thank you Barbara Peterson for calling out Erich Simon on his post. I almost did so myself, but did not. I do not believe he addressed any of your questions or concerns, and while I did not take the time to read his new post, it appears you got no real answers, but a whole lot of info. I am just glad he did not end with MBA, it irks me when people throw titles around. From my perspective, people in the Gulf Region were blind sided, and left to pick up the pieces with very little assistance from those who caused the problems in the first place. In essence, they got screwed.

  5. Jim Barlucci says:

Don’t you see that BP acts under authority of Barack Obama? Ever since he permitted the spraying of corexit in the Gulf of Mexico Barack Obama became complicit in the crimes of British Petroleum. You say you aren’t being properly compensated by BP? Who do you think makes the final decision in such matters? Not British Petroleum. Barack Obama. The Devil is in a monkey suit at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, and he’s just warming up.

  6. Erich Simon says:

Barbara… I apologize for characterizing Southern deference towards BP as ‘White Trash’ (meaning those who put themselves before their children in the most egregious of ways),

Personally, I taught karate at Yang Moon College in Metairie, Louisiana back in ’81… along with a tough bunch of Southerners, many just back from Nam, including the NOPD combat instructor (Master Tony Phillips).

I am in utter disbelief how a people can ‘string up’ defenseless black men… defenseless individuals of NO threat… and yet can not so much as grab one BP thug (or two)… these demonic, invading maurauders intent on pilfering peoples’ land and resources, and to do it without a care as to who they hurt, poison… rape or kill… children or otherwise…, well, I would have hoped that my Southern roots would knock each other over to be the first in line to show THEM what ‘Don’t Tread On Me’ REALLY MEANS!

I am very fed up at it… I am very fed up at YOU (you Southern couch potatoes with your hands outstretched like dogs begging a ‘BP’ morsel, a morsel of something that is YOURS). I’m sitting here with a broken back, neck and shattered clavicle… courtesy of my last parking lot fight… Easter weekend… and that wasn’t even to protect any children, nor garner a paycheck in the ring. Trite!

THEY are ATTACKING YOU, as you are now coming to terms, you poor, ‘defenseless’, innocent, family-types all cozy and ignorant down in the lazy South… the heartland of hospitality. Yes, you are indeed great people. My first love, Michelle Reeves… Jim Reeves’ daughter, Mayor of Pensacola… she was a quintessential Southern Belle. But you can forget all that, those Disney Land days and bygone era are OVER… they are antithesis to what lies just ahead.

The South set a horrendous example by bending over for BP, joined at the hip with the bought-and-paid-for, token US government… along with a military machine built off-balance sheet with taxpayer dollars behind a ruse called Y2K….

When BP took a crap in the swimming pool of the entire South, the homeowners were more concerned with their next credit card payment than in their own childrens’ long-term health and well-being, or the future of requisites like clean ground water and the toxicity and bio-accumulation of chemicals inundating the food sources, TOXIC chemicals THAT WENT UNNAMED because the BP Masters WOULD NOT divulge the names, not even for people needing urgent medical attention!!!

Now the BP dogs are rabid.

Now the blood is really gonna run, because BP rolled right through six Southern states, and they own advanced weaponry that you can’t even dream of. Yet. Like it or not… you are gonna fight.

Thank you for reading my post on BP’s Crimes Against Humanity at the link you so generously provided, Barbara. I wrote the below follow-up Macro ‘explanation’, to explain to those interested… and predicting the next ‘event’ (turned out to be Fukushima)… the next domino after the Gulf of Mexico TE (Threshold Event). And the ‘attacks’ that are soon to follow, this year… which will end the lives of a great many of our children and family members.

This off-subject overview is my larger perspective… (and proprietary):

The Final Stages of Socio-Demo-Eco Climax (1974-2011)
    -Erich Simon

    1. Overcrowding and Resource Depletion

Geometric population growth rates top out (doubling inside the rollover of the average life-span) beginning a finite system overload. Economic Competition, Peak Globalization, Decreasing Economies of Scale, Urbanization and Over-Development. Currency begins to decouple from a store of value and begins terminal descent in proportion to over-demand to diminishing supply of scarce resources. Human habitat collapse. Irretrievable loss of economic pedestal… topsoil, farmland, potable water, open spaces… pollution (the ‘neighborhood effect’), disappearing wealth (free time) and increasing poverty. The failing of the Means of Production (labor plus technology) to satisfy the fundamental requirements of the population, namely health and well being. The end of social responsibility and quality control inside factory-of-the-world models like ‘Made in Japan’. Bottled water, across-border shortages and ‘pumping your own gas.’ Purveyor of the basement pantry. Asthma inhalers as school bag accessory.

    2. Government Corruption

Corruption in leadership fueled by growing economic claustrophobia. Formation of self-serving Alliances across government, banking and business. Global pacts. Fraud. Governments cease functioning to promote the common good and coalesce into predatory self-serving entities. Loss of transparency, individual liberties and political identity. Rise of the Prison State, where justice equates to financial means, and Big Government Bureaucracy. Closing ranks around communication begins a campaign of public brainwashing. Propaganda, subliminal stimulation, social conditioning, behavior modification, calculated ambiguity and legal disclaimer. Doublespeak, Mediaspeak and culpable deniability. Scapegoating. S&L Crisis. ‘1991 Jobless Recession’. Embodiment of power trusts (antecedents to the Third World War) placing themselves not just in front of all men but in front of all morality, above both the law and all sovereign government.

    3. Money Printing

Money supply increases to ‘baby sit’ the crowding economic demographic, maintain insider advantage and distract attention from the end of the long wave business cycle (and blow-off top to the 300 year old Industrial Revolution). The creation of (unproductive) social engineering… labor projects to apportion scarce basic resources through currency disbursement (wages). The ballyhooed dot.com farce, the creation of the parasitic financial services industry and the global, McMansion makeover. Increasing government employees to manage labor deployment, rooting/(security forces to) the bureaucracy and extending international tentacles. The US prison system sucking in the remaining 5-10% of expenditures.

Social squandering and collapse in savings by the upper class, leveraging at the margin to maintain lifestyle. Upward inflection in the inflation trend preserves the status quo (i.e. keeps the game going). The use of Debt to mask economic constriction… and underwrite a growing pool of disenfranchised, alienated masses… while increasing government revenue through increased property tax and capital gains, rerouted to off-balance sheet (military) activities to protect the burgeoning Empire hierarchy. Top Line Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) and Just-In-Time Supply Chains. Money transforming from a store of value (against future claims) into transitory entitlement (like a food stamp or sovereign coupon). Prices moving higher from increasing demand, especially from developing countries, alongside tightening supply… managed through sovereign currency intermediation and closed-door brokering.

Leadership sabotaging the populace with these frivolous, socially engineered ‘babysitting’ exercises of the global labor pool is completely remiss in promoting social harmony and sound footing for true productivity, food, health, infrastructure and responsible resource management, aligning the population with sound principles and nonpolluting productive priorities. Quite the opposite, these governmental prescriptions not only are initiating acute vulnerability but guaranteeing a period of suffering unlike any other in magnitude. (1995)

    4. Cutthroat Competition

Bottom Line M&A (cost cutting), Inventory Controls and efficiency-related Job Cuts (employees donning multiple hats). Equity markets function as wealth distribution mechanisms (into the pockets of Insiders) instead of traditional financing sources for business development (PP&E). Shortages leading to rising prices for ‘necessities’ (rents, utilities, lifestyle expectation) and for inelastics (gasoline, health care). Continuing inflation managed through monetary and fiscal stimulus. Realization by growing global contingent of the collapsing human habitat and game of musical chairs playing out for shrinking global wealth (free time, natural resources, recreational property, health and longevity). Having to work harder and longer just to keep up, ‘The Grind’, the social ‘Treadmill’, the Dual Bread Earner Mandate. Conformity into the global Anthill. A ‘mad dash for a last place in the sun’, the accumulation of remaining tangibles. The dawn of Power as currency to gain entry into the closing economic door. (2000)

    5. Hollowing of Yesterday’s Prosperity/Social Lockdown

Cheaper substitutes, smaller packaging… ratcheting latent inflation… passing along inferior, lower grade, low standard and poisonous goods (farmers dumping pesticide onto crops, overuse of chemical fertilizers, antibiotics and growth hormones), “babies born polluted”, cheap and dangerous foreign products, Recalls, shoddy manufacturing and short-cutting. Starvation, hunger and malnutrition supplant Green Revolution in agriculture. Cascading Third World health care giving way to increasing disease (cancer clusters, Pandemic outbreaks). Border controls. Top Down sovereign leadership closes ranks (around Homeland Security) retiring key civilian-minded professionals and substituting government loyalist. Government workers paid more than private sector civilian counterparts to maintain ‘majority’ demographic control in the face of revolution. Government monopoly of all media voice. Loss of individual liberty and complete forfeiture of individual rights from relentless onslaught of poverty. Banks take possession of all property, plant and equipment. Governments lie with impunity and go unchallenged behind a growing curtain of secret, deputized security forces. The propagation of Fear.

    6. Deflation

Deflation ignites from splintering social strata and accelerating impoverishment as people rush to sell assets. Government’s dual realization of the need to curtail money printing to preserve the power structure against a currency collapse and the changing dynamic where inflating the currency (against an absence of ‘real’ productivity) is fueling the paradox of an ever faster rate of deflation and bankruptcy. The ‘Great Pawn Shop’ economy begins a feeding frenzy of lower prices. Real Estate collapses. Unemployment explodes (layoffs, furloughs, early retirement, extended work weeks). Dilapidation from years of misappropriation and neglect (crumbling roadways, bridges, urban blight, foreclosure). Infrastructure deterioration across the productive industry (power grid brownouts, unsanitary hospital conditions… mold, viruses, bacteria… accidents from faulty workmanship). Production Segregation leads to an oversupply of price elastic goods and services (like frivolous technological distractions) and under supply of inelastics. Shuttering of Manufacturing and Commercial Facilities, and End of Expansion (Business, Residential, Public Works). End of construction boom, like dot.com boom another (cyclical) leg of ‘employment-babysitting’ false-prosperity, further misallocating the social base and robbing critical finite raw materials. (2002)

    7. Fracture and Fragmentation

Fracture between the wealthy micro-minority ‘winners’ and everyone else. The middle class, transitioned into the debtor class, is at this stage already long lumped with the bankrupted masses living paycheck to paycheck. The final shakeout, between the rich on the margin and the rest of the upper 1%, is the final curtain call on impoverished 99%. Fragmentation into ranks of ‘like-minded’ companion groups (race, religion, social standing, geography). Renewed money printing and disbursement, no longer to underwrite the illusion of prosperity and full employment, but to maintain minimum lifestyle subsidy in order to keep the peace and preserve social order. ‘Cash for clunkers’ feel-good programs. Gratuitous across-the-board tax rebates to stem social upheaval and subsidize the new poverty class. Unemployment compensation (extension). Unbridled debt creation with no mind to repayment as currency collapse comes into view. Tax payer impoverishment and revolt. Seizing up in money velocity, hoarding. Money taking on new face. Transition from a Luxury economy into a Necessity economy. Nationalism. Socialism. Border closings. Ever greater numbers roaming the economic fringe. Moving beyond ‘pumping your own gas’ into self-sufficiency pact. Diminishing value of life. Stifling pollution levels (asthma inhalers) and disease outbreak. Fear gives way to intimidation by government police forces. Harsher prison sentences, increasing numbers of laws and burgeoning prison populations signal the antithesis of egalitarianism, enlightenment and social harmony.

Fracture and Fragmentation stage is ‘level one’ stage civil war, and includes inflections in the crime rates symptomatic of a nation in disintegration… like domestic violence, workplace shootings, home invasions. The more police in a society the more unhealthy is that society.

    8. Endemic Corruption

Mass awakening to the game of musical chairs for basic survival needs spawns corruption across all social participants accepted as business-as-usual, no longer the domain of the proverbial miscreant auto mechanic. Corruption is top down, culminating across the ranks of society’s ‘healers’, corrupting the individuals who are responsible for care-giving and the health of society… the medical, pharmaceutical and insurance underpinning. The changing, debased cultural mores increasingly glorifying violence cast those not ‘getting with the program’ into the pool of impoverished majority. Rise of (global) organized crime. Growing entrenched black-market distribution channels. Governments enacting stringent tax collection fiscal policy and budget cuts to squeeze remaining taxpayer solvency against budgets at the local level that are bankrupt. Geopolitical Risk. Social cannibalization, lawsuits, collection agencies, bankruptcies, cash hoarding transitioning to cash hiding. Increases in the price of precious metals as the repository of the new ‘criminal’ underground banking enterprise.

    9. Threshold Event (TE)

ANY of a nearly limitless number of exogenous shocks knocks the legs out from under the precarious global economic system, absent of flexibility or tolerance, and begins a cumulative and ‘fatal’ tribulation. When this happens… ‘the music finally comes to an end’. World banking system (Boomer demographic) crash (2008-09) is harbinger of terminal constriction. Warning: Gulf Oil Spill deemed highly likely precipitating TE. (7/2010)

A precipitating event, natural or manmade, ignites a series of infectious, snowballing calamities and conflicts (post the Gulf Oil Spill the Danube River contamination from the Hungary spill) that closes the door on global equity markets and springs the (government predator) trap upon the social masses, robbing them of their savings and productive contribution and leaving them destitute and powerless behind worthless currency. Social Replacement Costs (‘rebuilding’) can no longer be absorbed by the prevailing marketplace or global balance sheet (like financing a new set of WTC towers post 9-11). The taxpayer (Productive Economy) base shrinks below what is necessary to support the subsidized economy, which is just about everyone.

Update: The Gulf oil spill is destruction of the primary US domestic seafood source (80% of US seafood originates in the Gulf of Mexico). This economic domino is going to destroy the fishing industry (with payments to fishermen to underwrite nonproductive contribution, clean-up work further diluting the US currency…), and remove another card from under the global, food supply house-of-cards (with 41 million Americans suffering food stamps). This will add to food inflation and ratcheting starvation. Tourism collapse. Residential and commercial Real Estate collapse. Property tax revenue collapse impinges upon state and local government budgets, further hollowing the US currency and adding to layoffs of critical responders. Muni Bond collapse. Oil/Corexit turns southeast US quadrant toxic, refugee crisis envelopes broader US geography sooner or later, further straining critical national infrastructure. Real Estate price collapse is (final) straw on the back of the Zombie Bank (mortgage debt) Camel resulting in even more bank failures. Health crises and impending health care collapse (46 million Americans absent health insurance) as oil and highly toxic Corexit related illnesses result in increasing insurance premiums and exploding cancer rates.

    10. Breakdown

A chain reaction of crises transfixes the financial system. This amidst production bottlenecks (from endemic cost cutting) after decades of misappropriation (incarcerating millions of working age males for victimless crimes and unproductive babysitting labor pool) and squandering (institutionalized Wall Street/government corruption) catches up and disrupts the Means of Production amidst the overhang of subsidized population saturation (bankrupted taxpayers). Overnight lifestyle collapse for the remaining pool of economic participants. Money sheds its skin and becomes wholly an entitlement coupon backed by whoever is at the government helm, with rocketing interest rates to instill transitory currency confidence and enlist remaining foreign support. Bank runs/closure/holidays, and credit market collapse. Inventory depletion. Shortages of goods and services compounded by fallout and disruption from strife. Just-In-Time global supply chains go vacant. Skyrocketing prices.

Currency no longer accepted as a store of value. Rationing, Barter, Black Market economics. Rearrangement of traditional brick and mortar distribution channels into neighborhood networks, centers-of-influence and inner city ‘warlords’. Counter-party Risk. Homelessness. Rioting, arson, destruction of public buildings. Government confiscation. In the absence of a (ration) currency then all out civil war between the Haves and Have-Nots. Martial Law. Transition from the police state into the military state. Decentralization and Territorialism. Anarchy.

Wealth is ‘repriced’ according to the Production of Goods and Services (or lack thereof) in the diminishing, ultra-competitive, barren, war torn, rebellion landscape. Traditional Stores of Value… precious metals, diamonds, artwork, antiques… already losing value in real terms as the global, social ‘top’ approaches the TE are replaced (interim?) by (functional) necessities and inelastics (like medicine, alcohol, tin foil and ammunition), which become valued new currency. Social restructuring (down-structuring) marks the end of Specialization, Cultural Diversity and Social Complexity. The human ‘monoculture’ succumbs to the evolution into extreme vulnerability resulting from overpopulation and expedited by technological advance and lost solidarity behind predatory leadership. One quarter to one half of the planet population ceases to exist. End.

    (China and conflict)

USA quits importing from Chindia and rearranges into domestic production, Bernanke’s prescription for structural remedy to America’s long term debt problems, and America’s solution to toxic imports and unemployment. China’s predominately male society (with 150,000 Chinese females committing suicide each year) goes into civil war absent the import of US dollars, which represent ownership in the American Dream… the least polluted of all the developed nation alternatives. The United States is the last remaining, global population spillover repository and the pressure release valve for the global village overpopulation fits and spurts after ethnic cleansing, genocide and managed wars fail to contain hot spots that have the potential to ignite broader regional and world war. America boasts ‘fresh air’ and fields aplenty, pseudo-transparency financial markets, and the hope for adjustment and technological solution.

Anarchy in China spills over into war (with the USA?) as the theme of decentralization and retreat into sovereign border puts an end to globalization (already anticipated by ‘beggar thy neighbor’ policies, themselves a reflection of the disintegrating global economic patient).

Russia aligns with China to capitalize on the global financial flux and realize its mission statement as the leading world power. Japan finally severs its umbilical cord with the US in deference to its new generation twice removed from the politics of the Second World War. Emerging nations are castaways into the economic void and form splinter alliances as world powers come unglued. Regional conflicts, old animosities, are sure to run their next course. These include India going to war with Pakistan/Afghanistan/Taliban, North and South Korea going to war, the ME exploding along traditional lines but with Saudi fighters going to war with the US in Iraq… and countries in Africa and South America going to war with neighboring countries, like Venezuela and Colombia. While these events (along with Pandemic et al.) are virtually guaranteed to curtail geometric population growth in the strictest Malthusian sense… war, disease and natural catastrophe being Mother Nature’s answer to arithmetic food production constraint… either one of two outcomes are certain.

The level of suffering across the human population and the destruction of the planet, which by all accounts today is a very small world, will be unlike any other time in human history. To say that the world is on the cusp of a Dark Age is not remiss. Dark Ages are thought to be unilinear events on the evolutionary path to ‘progress’. But this is wrong, as we are demonstrating all too well these last 300 years, so well it strikes to the heart of human nature and what it means to be human. Unless, of course, by ‘progress’ we mean our extinction.

Dark Ages are quite possibly cyclical events. And the next Dark Age will irrevocably compromise our planet, with near total habitat destruction and wide scale contamination. For the human race to attempt propagation out of the subterranean city-state bunkers built (off taxpayer balance sheet) then there will have to be a Dark Age or else population and technology redundancies will drop below sustainable levels and the human species could easily go extinct….

  7. Erich,

Your labeling of Gulf Coast victims as “white trash” is despicable. The technique of reversing the role of the victim then blaming them for the very thing that has victimized them is simply piling insult upon injury. The people did not poison themselves, BP poisoned them. A family that lost its income and is fighting for life should not have to apologize for doing so. Just how did the residents of the Gulf “sell out?” You didn’t elaborate, you just threw that out there with no substantiation whatsoever. The article you referenced at http://www.rickackerman.com/20.....-the-gulf/ is a good one, but does not substantiate your hypothesis that the people could have done one thing to prevent this. Before you throw stones, stand in the families’ shoes that are simply trying to live when they have been lied to from the start, used as guinea pigs, and thrown away by the likes of BP and the U.S. government.

Thanks for posting these, we need to get more of these articles into the mainstream press. I found some success mailing links to sites who have topics in common. I’m trying to stay on the radiation stuff right now and I am amazed that yet again the media is silent (Ft. Calhoun, Cooper, Fukushima, Loa Alamos) and most people don’t care or don’t want to know. It’s really depressing. I was in shocl about the Gulf of Mexico stuff too, truly amazing how quiet the a lot of environmentalists are. I’m hoping they wake up real fast to what’s going on.

    Peace

  9. Erich Simon says:

The Gulf of Mexico residents (incredibly) chose a Pay-Off instead of fighting for their children, property, neighbors, environment, health… their very existence and way-of-life.

Any thinking man could see right from the start that the eventuality of this situation was going to be nothing short of the collapse of all residential and commercial real estate property values, the fisheries industry, the tourism industry, the small and medium sized banking industries… and all the (Mom & Pop) businesses contingent thereof. As for the health industry, the other shoe to drop, exploding cancer and disease rates are going to collapse that one as well… the Gulf of Mexico is turning into a Dead Zone.

In my writing at the time this happened (go and read it at Ackerman’s post on Google, entitled: ‘A Dire View of the Gulf Oil Gusher’ to understand what ‘yaw’ should have been doing!) I made it quite clear all the Crimes Against Humanity on the part of BP.

But the Gulf Residents sold out! Now, they have NO right to complain nor to beg another bowl… nor shall it be given, since these Residents have now showed their true colors, lambs to the BP wolf.

The Gulf of Mexico was the front line of a (global) fight enveloping us all. And (as a Tulane graduate) I am sorry to say that the denizens of the Gulf, ghosts of the old Confederacy… you are beaten once again…, and by accepting payment (in worthless transitory greenbacks, printed at the whim of BP’s London-based, banking oligarchy no less!)… well, selling out your own children into a life of suffering and death… from cancer and disease with Corexit and everything else BP shoved down your throats, forever integral now to your food and water… the very air you breathe… that is the definition of ‘White Trash’.

Have you had enough yet? Or are you just gonna roll over and die… doesn’t matter, you’re dead already. Looks like we’ll have to stop ’em up here in the North. Just like last time.

Gulf coast oil spill, Fukushima, now Ft Calhoun Ne and the Cooper plant in Ne. When are we going to wake up to this planned genocide? What’s next? The New Madrid faultline?

  11. Lily says:

David is spot on! And indeed, history repeats. Check out how well Exxon Valdez has paid out on the claims from another ‘epic’ spill in 1989. Also, see how many claimants from that are still living (link listed in references). Check out what the attorneys said about ‘waiting them out’ before paying out the claims. The courts have spoken, but the big boys simply don’t hear a thing. My best to all concerned, which is in essence, the entire planet EARTH.

  12. Doug Girard says:

Excellent summation of what is transpiring David McElroy. Unfortunately, most Americans still get their news from TV. Hell, FOX is the most popular source for ‘news.’ And, whereas we saw reports en masse, from the likes of Andersen Cooper, when the oil was still flowing, those reports have stopped. The BP’s of the world can get away with this evil because there is no one to stop them. The American government is in collusion. Every government regulatory body – the EPA, the FDA, and on and on, represents business interests, and not those of the people. Yes, it’s a WAR, but most don’t even know they are in the middle of it. It is likely they won’t know right up until it comes to their town and affects their family. In the meantime people are losing their livelihoods, people are sick and even dying, and relative few seem to know or care. Perhaps people just wish to enjoy life as much as they can prior to it coming to their town. Selfish, but understandable.

  13. Lisa says:

You have that exactly right David McElroy. Now I’m wondering how to get in contact with Lulz or Anonymous. I think BP deserves a serious hack.

  14. Pierre says:

Why the american people do not do nothing about that, why they don’t react like a normal person about this genocide? They don’t have ball’s !….

  15. British Petroleum has not only destroyed the Gulf Coast fishing industry, but seriously damaged agricultural crops and livestock, and the health of human beings, as well as wrecking local economies and property values. There are credible reasons to believe this poisonous catastrophe is really part of the UN Agenda 21’s plan to destroy industry, depopulate the land and “re-wild” the territory. Robber barons buy distressed properties at low prices from impoverished desperate victims of the very obviously premeditated reckless destruction of the Gulf Coast environment by BP. Similar things going on along the Missippi & Missouri Rivers after the Army Corp of Engineers deliberately destroyed levess to flood prime farmlands. Now the government tyranny declares the fields and pastures to be “wetlands” the EPA wants preserved as such, devoid of the farming families and their agriculture. See George Soros. It is a WAR, people!
