In recent Congressional testimony, Faber said all the right things about wanting mandatory labeling of GMO foods. However, he also offered this stunning statement. Buckle up: “We do not oppose genetically modified food ingredients. We think there are many promising applications of genetically modified food ingredients…” Just Label It picks this man to head up its operation? On what possible basis? Because it wants to lose the fight it says it wants to win?
So, true organic will become scarce, creating an uptick in price, and non-GMO will become like USDA Certified Organic – spendy and requiring certification.
Revoking this patent is an important success. It was more or less based on a combination of fraud, abuse of patent law and biopiracy. The patent could have been used to monopolise important genetic resources. Now breeders, growers and consumers have a chance of benefiting from a greater diversity of tomatoes improved by further breeding.
Monsanto wants control of ALL seeds.
It’s not sound science to see these as showing safety by any scope of the imagination.
